Money

  • Tell your bank that you will use your card in India.
  • Carry some cash for the first days, in a safe place.
  • Pay the hospital directly, through its billing office. Ask for a receipt every time.
  • Never give treatment money to an agent or a translator.

Hospital deposits

Many hospitals ask for a deposit before treatment. Ask how much, when, and how they refund any balance.

SIM cards

  • A local SIM card makes calls in India cheaper.
  • Shops ask for your passport and visa to sell you a SIM card.
  • Keep your Kenyan number active for messages from home, if you can.

Sources

  • Ask your bank about card use in India before you travel.
